One of the Guys

With three little boys (and one grown-up one) running around, it’s only a matter of time before the personal injuries start to pile up. When our second started walking (at 10 months) we could see the writing on the wall: broken limbs were only a matter of time.

And while our family hasn’t had a broken bone yet – knock wood – we have had our fair share of little boy boo-boos. Ironically, it has been our cautious firstborn and not our daredevil second or our fearless third that has scored the biggest injuries. He was the first to visit the ER (a swallowed key, which passed through on it’s own, thank-you very much) and the first to get stitches (ending his second ER run).

Since all has been pretty quiet on the home front lately, we were sort of assuming that another rough-and-tumble milestone was just around the corner. And we were right (sometimes it’s not so great being able to say that).

And the award for the first shiner – courtesy of their redheaded brother and his overenthusiastic attendance at family prayer (ironically, the same brother responsible for the aforementioned stitches) – goes to…

…our baby girl!

(I suppose it shouldn’t surprise us that much. After all, she did manage to take the family’s first ambulance trip at only a few minutes old!)

Wow, a black eye at under a year! How many girls can boast that ; ). How funny that it happened at family prayer.

Is she blond? Her hair looks so light in that picture! She has beautiful coloring though!

Oh, the dangers of being the younger sister of three rough-and-rowdy boys! And at family prayer, that must have been a rousing revival!! Sorry I missed that one!

As sad as the black eye is, it really is a good picture!
