Birthday and a Road Trip

What better way to celebrate your birthday than surrounded by grandparents? Works for my kids anyway.

This year, Elijah lucked out by having not one but three grandparents on hand to ring in his special day. He was pretty excited.

And because we were visiting the grandparents, there was something for the rest of the littles to get excited about too. (Dylan was a little upset that no family had been able to visit for his birthday, so we ended up throwing an un-birthday party the following weekend. And then all was right with the world.)

Since we’d already taken cupcakes into his school to celebrate earlier in the week, Lij opted to have brownie sundaes for his birthday. Alexander was especially enthusiastic about this decision.

And the rest of us were all pretty fascinated to see seven flaming birthday candles crammed onto one five-inch square brownie.
