Labors Worth Pursuing

We decided to have on last hoorah at the water park today and I’m so glad we did. The weather was perfect {not too hot, not too cool, cloudy enough to avoid sunburns} and the crowds stayed away. Bliss! I’m not sure the kids realized that this was really the last last time {no season’s passes next year}, but regardless of their big-picture comprehension, they had fun. The boys even got to go on one of the “big” rides – Journey to Atlantis – with me. Actually, it was quite hilarious. The splashes were obviously geared toward adult riders, so while I got mildly wet from the chest down, the boys got absolutely soaked head-to-toe. When the waves parted and the water had been wiped from eyes and spit from mouths, Dyl was heard to exclaim, “That was not what I was expecting.” Of course, by the time we’d walked off the ride, they had moved past shock-and-awe and onto let’s-do-that-again! {So thanks, yet again, aunt Karen for one awesome gift!}

Then, what end-of-summer-party day would be complete without a backyard barbecue? And what backyard barbecue would be complete without s’mores? Not ours, that’s for sure.

And with endorsements like these, who wouldn’t want s’more?

{Btw, Lij was there for the whole s’mores fest. I guess he just stayed too clean to warrant a photo-op. Or maybe that type of silliness is just beneath him. Or perhaps he was outside fixing his third s’more while the camera was out. All valid possibilities.}
