After spending the weekend at the farm with my dad, we moved to the camp for the week to crash with my mom. Isn’t family wonderful? Mine might not be thinking that right about now!
Actually, I’m pretty sure they’ve liked having us here. And it’s sure been a blessing for us. Since the camp has Wi-Fi, Alexander has been able to work all week instead of being forced to take a week off with no vacation accrued. And the kids have been in seventh-heaven with a whole guest house to explore, a whole camp to walk around, a whole lake to swim in and – best for last – their very own Grandma and Tom’pa just down the hill. The only one I feel a little sorry for is this guy.
He was sad to leave his pre-school buddies behind in Texas and that really hit home to him this week when we celebrated his birthday. He really wished he could share his Iron Man cake with his pals. He handled it really well though. He’s my little stoic.
And fortunately, he has his own built-in sibling pals that moved right along with him. Along with Grandma and Tom’pa, Aunt Karen and a few other really fun folks, I think we were able to have a really good – if slightly wet – party.
For me, it was just really strange to celebrate a birthday without having a home. Didn’t feel real, somehow. But thankfully, our homeless state ends this evening when we will (knock wood) close on our new house.
