Elijah’s Readers Theatre

Lately, Maddy has been wearing me out with her literary requests. Every time I turn around, she’s there with book-laden arms outstretched, crying. “Read, Mommy. Read. I want to read, Mommy.” It’s like she’s stuck on an endless loop.

I love that she’s discovered a passion for books, like each of her brothers before her. But I must admit that this stage tires me out a bit. I mean, imagine your day. All the things you have to get done from now till bedtime. Now picture stopping every five to ten minutes, because a persistent (albeit adorable) little ladybug is demanding that you, “Read! Read mommy! Read!” Makes it pretty tricky to get anything done.

So perhaps you can imagine how thrilled I was when I saw this today...

Why didn’t I think of that?

A budding reader right under my nose who at this point in his short life already owes me upwards of fifty years slave labor loves his sister and is (usually) plenty eager to help her out. Genius, I tell you!

They happily sat like this for a good fifteen minutes and a large stack of board books, Lij reading and Maddy parroting every other word. (Pretty sure the repeating thing is why it didn’t last longer than fifteen minutes)

And in the meantime, I was able to get dinner on the table. Without once tripping over my latest budding bookworm.

These photos touch my heart! Nothing like family love to do that! With a little bit of chivalry and kindness!
I had a thought - think she'll accept me as fast as she does Tom'pa if I read to her? mamasmama
