Then, life happens really fast.
Unless of course you’ve been waiting forever to finally turn five and your favorite animal is now the cheetah because you used to like giraffes when you were little, but they just go too slow for you now that you’re all big and stuff. (Of course, that doesn’t make you above sleeping with your much-loved stuffed giraffe ‘Sprinkles’ every night, but I suppose that’s beside the point.)
Then, I guess, life happens too slowly.
Because as soon as you’re done eating your specially- requested cheetah cake and your ice cream, you ask in your adorably un-big-boy falsetto, “I get to go to kindergarten on Monday, right? Cause I’m five now?”
Um, not exactly! So just slow down, little man.
August will come soon enough, even though you can’t imagine waiting that long to start school. And then, before you know it, you’ll be thirty and decorating your own soon-to-be-kindergartener’s birthday cake and telling them to slow down and enjoy the journey.

I enjoy your insights and your writing! It is amazing how the same 24 hours, the same 7 days, the same 12 months can feel so different to different people. One of my favorite pieces of advice - Enjoy the Journey!! Thank you for this tender look into your lives. mamasmama
