How To Be Cool: A Three-step Approach

1. Walk into school in some stylish back-to-school threads

2. Have a fellow cool classmate behind you call out loudly “Elijah LastName!” in an extremely cool manner (think more skate-park cool than sports-sideline cool)

3. Look back over your shoulder to see which of your many admirers is calling your name and give them a smile and a little wave.

(and because we traffic in entropy around here…)

How To Publicly Embarrass Yourself: A Painful One-step Approach

1. After following the above three steps, and before turning around again, run soundly and obviously into a large sign-on-a-stand in the middle of the school hallway nearly knocking it to the floor (good save, mama)

It’s gonna be a long thirteen years!

I love it! Sounds like he's related to us - we all tried (and failed) at pulling off those smooth moves. At least he's a smart cutie patootie to compensate for those moments!

That is definitely one for his scrapbook. Look how cool you were in Kindergarten!
That is an episode that makes all of us cringe and laugh out loud as we remember those less-than-cool times we've all had.
Unfortunately, it is not limited to our school years. Why, just last week as I entered the old folks home, someone called out....
Actually, it does begin to matter less as your eyesight and hearing go, you can't figure out who called to you , and perhaps didn't want to wave at them anyway!
