A Yuletide Open House

It’s been six years since I’ve been back to New York. That’s a long time to be away from family and friends. But thirty hours in the car to get up here was also a long time. Since the folks I wanted to see were fairly spread out, that would mean subjecting my already saddle-sore kiddos to more miles in their car seats. Not exactly a merry Christmas. And thus the idea for an open house was born. Probably the single worst time of the year to hold an open house, but what are you going to do? We forged ahead.

We put up some decorations.

twinkle lights and paper snowflakes {the kids had a blast making those} in the foyer

We made some treats. {A lot of treats, actually. I won’t even list how many.}

karen and me stirring a batch of aunt gladys’ famous fudge

We ate some treats. {Again, a lot. Seriously. It was shameful!}

although maddy appears to be experiencing no shame

And, of course, we had some laughs.

trying to get a nice picture with two of my favorite people, but sadly we were just having too much fun to pose

Thanks to all of those who braved the winter weather and cleared busy schedules to come see us. We had a wonderful time catching up with you!
