Our summers here in the great state of hot and humid would be intolerable were it not for Pa & Nana’s house. Pretty much any three-day weekend finds us at their house. In fact, we sometimes resort to inventing reasons to go see them. We just love being there. The kids love being there. Hopefully, Pa & Nana love us being there right back. (Though they do get a kind of wild gleam in their eyes as our loaded-up van backs out of their driveway)
Each summertime visit to Pa & Nana’s provides us with the opportunity to acquaint our kids with the water – thanks to Pa & Nana’s backyard pool. And with each visit, the kids have gotten more and more comfortable in the water – except for Nicholas, who could due with a bit of healthy fear where bodies of water are concerned. And Maddy, who is still not at all sure why we keep forcing her into a giant bathtub with clothes on and manages to escape the pool before we get any pictures of her.
Our latest visit (the weekend of the 4th) was no exception. In fact (though we don’t have pictures of it due to the fact that all able bodies were standing-by to rescue if needed), both Lij and Dyl attempted swimming without their floatie vests. And they succeeded! They even did a bit of sans-floatie snorkeling with the masks that Pa & Nana purchased for them. It’s so fun watching them progress in front of our eyes!
And now, without further delay, the pictures you’ve all been waiting for…
“closing his eyes” when he hits the water
Taking a break… only to be attacked by a camera-wielding fan

What delightful water pictures. Makes me want to find a pool and jump in this minute. The boys are doing great with their swimming.

Those photos sure show how much the boys (and Mama) love the water!! Such JOY on their faces as they anticipate the plunge! Nice job with the photography. I agree with Nancy - makes me want to hop in, too!! Mamasmama
oh how lucky to have a pool at your disposal! it looks like you are doing a good job of having fun and staying cool this summer. mia has been in swimming lessons this year and is doing MUCH better with the water on her face thing :).
Wonderful pictures! I love the action shots!
The only way to deal with the Texas heat, or any other heat for that matter, is to go swimming! I'm glad you have a pool at your disposal and willing grandparents to let you come :) My sister just bought a townhome close by and so we have made ourselves very frequent visitors at her swimming pool this summer!
