Fancy That Friday – Accept The Charges

I know. I know. Father’s Day has already come and gone, but I didn’t want to post this last Friday and skew the results of my informal poll.

So here it is: Believe it or not, more collect calls are placed on the third Sunday in June (Father’s Day) than any other day of the year.*

What else can I say? That’s just plain sad! “Hi Dad. Happy Father’s Day! Thanks for giving me life. By the way, would you mind paying for this call?” Oy. And now for the informal poll…

How many of you reversed the charges on Father’s Day. Be honest now. If you feel guilty or embarrassed about it (you should, by the way – just kidding, sort of), you can always leave an anonymous comment. But either way, let me know.

(Oh and as a matter of clarification, for my poll, if your Dad pays for your phone line, cell phone, manner of life you’ve become accustomed to, etc., that counts as a “collect” call – unless you went out and bought a calling card specifically to call him on, that is.)

I must admit - Mom and I took Dad out for Father's Day - and Mom paid.

what a schmuck I am. :) At least I bought the card myself. And The Rev preached Sunday am there and told the whole congregation and Dad what a Daddy's girl I am, and knowing my Dad, he made a beeline for the soundbooth to get a tape of that sermon so he can listen to it over and over and over again.

I didn't. I called Dad on my very very own dime. :) I can't even fathom calling your own father collect on Father's Day. I mean, you KNOW it's coming!

Calling him collect to come and get you when your car has just broken down is something else entirely.

Lol. I guessI am ashamed to admit that I didn't even call (did send a gift, however). But that's a story for another time. :)

AACK! Both of my dads called me! Before I could call them! One dad was on a forest fire, so had to call from a satellite phone. But I did send him a card. With my own 39 cents. And my other dad called me becuase he was on the way to a concert and wouldn't be home...but I sent him a card too. And I paid for the stamp by myself. I guess maybe they both know they wouldn't be the wonderful dads they are without me, so they decided to call and thank me on Father's day...
