Hot Dog... It's Cold!

Well, relatively speaking.

You see, I’m used to cold. The part of New York where I grew up could get cold. Really cold. Many degrees below zero cold. And snow. Did I mention the snow? My dad’s house is pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas every year (see the picture for proof). Feet and feet of the white stuff – sometimes fluffy, sometimes slushy – was not all uncommon. There basically had to be snow higher than your doorway or polar bears migrating south before they’d cancel school. And I had to walk to school. In the cold. And the snow. Uphill both ways.

Then there was Utah, where I received my higher education. Nestled against the Wasatch Mountain range, Utah Valley knows a thing or two about cold as well. Not quite as cold as my NY roots, but still cold enough to host a Winter Olympics. And I had to walk to school there too. In the cold. And the snow. Uphill both ways. This is the Mountain West we’re talking about after all.

So, yeah. I know a thing or two about cold.

And so, considering we spent our first Texas Christmas outside taking group photos (see the picture for proof - faces blurred to protect the innocent and those unaware of this blog), today – by Texas standards – was cold. Don’t believe me? Our heater kicked on during the day, not just at night. Dylan could see his breath in the car as he screamed excitedly all the way to church. I got to wear a thick sweater and long wool skirt!

In celebration, there might just have to be some mugs of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows tonight. And maybe even some snuggling with Alexander. Cause let’s face it – in a few months, when it’s hot enough to melt a solid bar of chocolate on an indoor countertop and we’re sweating so much we’re the human equivalent of fly paper, who’s gonna feel like snuggling?

Oh, bring it on. I love the cold, the seeing of the breath, the cocoa. I love it all. Congrats. It's been semi-warm here.

Mmmmm. Hot chocolate! I so want some now. I'm in Utah and actually wish we'd get some snow.

I am so jealous! I am ready for winter to be over. I wish that I wished for cold weather! But all I can think of is spring - flowers and such. Maybe I will have to whip out some hot chocolate and marshmallows to cheer myself up!

Mmmm...I love hot chocolate. Except in Arizona where it is 80 degrees right now. Today. In Febuary.

I know! It's 3:19pm and my sweater is still on! I love that my kids can play outside all winter but I really miss the sweater weather.
