There’s Something About Alex

...that I absolutely love. Here are a few examples from this weekend that show why I think he’s wonderful:

1.) He let me pick the movie last night for our weekly movie night. It wasn’t very good, but he never complained (and he was a film major in school, so he knows how to complain about film).

2.) He let me sleep late this morning. This is a big deal because the boys like to wake up between 6:15 and 6:30am every morning, so regardless of what day it is one of us must not sleep in.

3.) He built his first woodworking project today – a workbench for the garage. He even let Elijah come out to “help” him with the assembly part. He claims it’s not up to his perfectionist standards, but it looks pretty good to me.

4.) He bought into my idea of a “fun family evening.” We’ve been working hard every weekend since we moved in and I thought we could all use some fun – sort of an early Valentine’s Day celebration also. So we got take-out, refrigerated cookie dough and ice cream and had a picnic on the floor in the living room while watching Wallace and Gromit: The Curse the Were-Rabbit. The kids had a blast and we got to spend non-stress time altogether (even though the carpet got a bit messy in the process).

5.) He is currently bathing both boys single-handedly so I can type up this post.

And thus the reasons why I felt that tonight was a “why I love Alexander list” night.
